More Information about the Additional Environmental Commitment
Please note that the information below has been provided by the electricity suppliers themselves.
- British Gas: Future Energy Plus
-
The electricity used in your home will be offset by purchasing a minimum of 1 tonne of Carbon Offsets through the Government led initiative, Quality Assurance Scheme. You also contribute to the non-profit Energy For Tomorrow fund which invests in community projects to reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions whilst providing excellent examples of low carbon technology that the whole community can benefit from. The carbon abatement of these projects is between 20 to 40kg of CO2 per customer.
- British Gas: Future Energy
-
You will be provided with a Standby Saver that should make a saving of approximately £33 per year and a lifetime CO2e saving of 503kg. You will also contribute to the non-profit Energy For Tomorrow fund which invests in community projects to reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions whilst providing excellent examples of low carbon technology that the whole community can benefit from. The carbon abatement of these projects is between 20 - 40kg of CO2 per account.
- E.On: Easy Green
-
We will offset 100% of the carbon emissions produced by your electricity consumption. This will demonstrate to you that you are having a positive impact on the environment and that there will be less carbon dioxide in the environment as a result of you taking Easy Green.
- E.On: Go Green
-
Our environmental commitment to you is that as a Go Green electricity customer we will purchase 1.8 tonnes of good quality carbon offsets every 12 months you take the product. Carbon offsetting is buying greenhouse gas reductions in other parts of the world.
- EDF Energy: Green Tariff
-
The Green Fund helps to support renewable energy projects for non-profit organisations across the UK.
- Good Energy
-
On behalf of customers on our Good Energy tariff we will invest in renewable heat generation projects that will benefit local communities. The income from these schemes will be entrusted to an independent body to invest in further projects, creating ongoing carbon savings.
- Good Energy: 100% Green & Gold
-
Good Energy will offer an additional carbon reduction through the purchase of 1 tonne Gold Standard Certified Emission Reduction (CER) Offset per customer, every year.
- npower: Juice
-
npower makes an annual contribution of £10 into the Juice Fund for every Juice customer. Since 2005 the Juice Fund has been used to support innovation, research and development in the marine and tidal renewables sector. From 2010 the Juice Fund will be used to invest in community-based small- and micro- renewable generation projects in Great Britain, with any shortfall to meet the requirements of the Green Energy Supply Scheme being achieved through appropriate and approved offsets. Information will be available at npower.com/Juice detailing current projects being invested in by the Juice Fund.
- npower: National Trust Green Energy
-
For every customer that selects National Trust Green Energy (NTGE) npower will make an initial contribution of £30 to the National Trust Green Fund, with an additional £10 paid per annum thereafter. This fund is used at National Trust properties in Great Britain to invest in low- and zero-carbon initiatives delivered through micro- and small- scale renewable projects. The projects delivered will reduce the carbon footprint of the property, for instance by replacing oil or LPG boilers with ground source heat pumps or solar PV panels. We will provide frequent information confirming the details of initiatives that have been invested in. These figures are based on a customer taking NTGE and gas from npower. Should only NTGE be selected contributions of £15 and £5 will be made respectively
- Scottish Power: Simply Green
-
Contributes funds towards small-scale environmental and educational renewable energy projects within communities across the UK.
- Scottish Hydro, SWALEC & Southern Electric: betterplan plus
-
Betterplan plus is an energy reduction programme. We encourage and advise our customers to help them reduce their energy usage and reward them for doing so.
